Charlotte County, FL - Man Killed in Two-Car Crash on State Road 776

Charlotte County, FL (May 23, 2020) - A man from Punta Gorda died in a two-vehicle crash in Charlotte County on Friday. The crash occurred along State Road 776 near the intersection with Toledo Boulevard.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 75-year-old man was traveling westbound near the intersection. At the same time, a second vehicle was traveling eastbound, also approaching the same intersection. The man attempted to make a left turn but collided with the other vehicle. The first vehicle left the roadway and struck a traffic utility box. The second vehicle also left the roadway and rolled over before coming to rest. The 75-year-old driver died as a result of his injuries while the driver of the second vehicle was not injured.

The crash is still under investigation at this time and there is no word on whether any charges are expected.
