Davenport, FL (July 8, 2018) – A Tampa man was critically injured in a dump truck rollover crash that took place in Davenport. At this time, deputies believe that speed was a factor in the accident, causing the driver to spiral out of control.
The accident took place on Friday on Deen Still Road. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office investigated the scene.
42-year-old Radney Miranda Alonso was airlifted to the Osceola Regional Medical Center after the serious accident took place. From there, he needed other treatment at the Central Florida Hospital and now remains in “extremely” critical condition.
Deputies found that Alonso was driving at a high rate of speed in a blue dump truck when his vehicle flew off of the roadway and rolled onto its side. A load of sand had shifted in the back and caused the dump truck to overturn.
Deen Still Road was closed in both directions following the accident for several hours.
