A deadly Interstate 75 accident took place yesterday in Alachua County. The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the accident, which led to the death of one person at mile marker 404.
The crash happened yesterday afternoon around 12:35. Two people, identified as 37-year-old Antonio Carvalho De Sousa and 64-year-old Ronny Yung, were driving along on the southbound lanes. Suddenly, a third driver entered the lane.
Sousa and Yung did what they could do to avoid the third driver, but it caused Sousa’s vehicle to overturn and Yung’s vehicle to collide with a guardrail.
Sousa died at the scene of the accident by the time first responders arrived at the scene. The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
Yung received injuries and was taken for treatment.
