Emathlia, FL (July 13, 2018) – In Emathlia, a two-lane highway accident took place that led to the loss of life in one party. The man lost his life in northwest Marion County last evening. Florida Highway Patrol officers were called to the scene of the incident.
The man who lost his life in the accident was identified as 54-year-old Brian Scott Oliver of Ocala. Oliver was driving his Chevy Trailblazer and traveling east when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the road and struck a wooden utility pole.
The pole that he struck snapped in tow. The SUV flew into a ditch and struck two other wooden fences. Oliver was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the SUV before it ran into the fences. The vehicle overturned on its roof.
Oliver was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, police wonder if speed played a role in the accident. The roadway was blocked off for several hours in that area so that officers could take a closer look.
The driver was pronounced dead around 8:09 p.m.
