Tampa, FL (July 17, 2018) – Critical injuries resulted in a 74-year-old pedestrian woman after a vehicle drove onto a sidewalk and struck her. The accident took place on Monday morning.
Police confirmed that the incident took place in the morning hours on Northdale Boulevard at Mapledale Boulevard in Tampa. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded and found that the 74-year-old and another man were walking on a sidewalk when she was struck by a Honda Accord.
The driver of the Accord, identified as a 76-year-old, was leaving a YMCA parking lot when the crash took place. They believe that the man was having a medical emergency at the time, which might have contributed to him losing control.
The woman was immediately taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in critical condition. The man who was with her was not hit. The driver of the Honda was also taken to the hospital but we do not know his condition at this time.
Deputies continue to investigate.
