A Vernon man caused serious injuries to a man from Hartford in a hit-and-run accident while drinking and using drugs last year. The 44-year-old was identified as Frank Bohorquez. He pleaded guilty to second-degree assault with a motor vehicle in the accident. A judge has decided to put him on probation for three years, with five years in prison if he violates his conditions.
The accident victim is now 53 years old, as the accident happened a little over a year ago. At the time, he suffered a broken right arm, two broken legs, a concussion, facial cuts, and bruised ribs. He required surgical staples in his hand.
The accident happened when Bohorquez drank a bottle of alcohol and smoked marijuana as he drove around on a three-wheeled vehicle, which is much like a motorcycle but has a steering wheel like a car. At the time of the accident, he saw stopped traffic and tried to go around them in another lane, but hit somebody while doing so. He was hit by a truck and suffered minor injuries.
