Geneva, FL (July 9, 2018) – A Florida man was recently arrested for a fatal accident that took place in Geneva County. Police are still investigating but they have been able to successfully make an arrest.
40-year-old Jesse William Barber of Fort Myers is being charged with the murder and leaving the scene of an accident for his role in a crash that took the life of a 36-year-old. The man who lost his life was identified as William Lee Bryant.
Bryant was a passenger in a 1999 Dodge Ram pickup truck. Suddenly, the truck left the roadway and overturned. Bryant was not wearing a seatbelt at the time and was ejected from the pickup truck.
Bryant died at the scene of the accident. Police determined that it happened on Bonner Road around 6:40 p.m. last week.
They believe, at this time, speed played a role in the incident. At the time, the driver fled the scene of the accident but has since been captured and charged.
State Troopers are still working on investigating the crash.
