Hit-and-run crashes are very prevalent in Florida, accounting for about 100,000 crashes per year. This number represents approximately 25% of all reported accidents in our state. Hit-and-run collisions are often deadly and take place at high speeds. The common causes of a hit-and-run are distracted or impaired drivers who fail to see pedestrians standing or walking along the roadway. In many cases, the driver is at fault for the crash and chooses to leave the scene rather than stay behind and speak with authorities.
