Hillsborough County, FL (November 18, 2018) - A 20 year old motorcyclist is in critical condition following a crash on Harney Road in Hillsborough County. The crash took place on Friday, November 16th.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the scene at Harney Road near N 56th Street around 1:00 pm. There, they discovered that 20 year old Jacquez Ian Reese-Bolden and 58 year old Miguel Angel Caceres Isla had collided with one another. Police say that Isla was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Express westbound on Harney while Reese Bolden was riding a 2015 Kawasaki northbound on 56th Street.
As Isla attempted to make a left turn from a stop sign, he collided with Reese-Bolden's motorcycle. Reese-Bolden was ejected and was found lying in the roadway. Reese-Bolden was transported to Tampa General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Isla was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with minor injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
Over 250,000 injury crashes will take place this year in Florida. Many of these crashes will involve motorcycles. When a motorcycle crash occurs, the damage is often catastrophic. As we see in this accident, motorcycles offer little protection against the dangers of the road. Even though there are certain safety precautions that motorcyclists can and should take, such as wearing a helmet, there is often nothing that can be done to prevent serious injury in a motorcycle crash.
Our thoughts go out to Jacquez Ian Reese-Bolden in this tragic motorcycle crash.
