Hillsborough County, FL (April 14, 2019) - A tragic crash on Sunday, April 14th has left two people dead. The crash occurred on US-301, near Stacy Road.
The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the crash scene to investigate. Troopers learned that a 2005 Ford van was traveling in the southbound lanes of the highway when, for unknown reasons, it veered into the northbound lane. Once in the northbound lane, the van sideswiped a 2004 Chevrolet before crashing head-on with a 2014 Ford truck. The Chevy then left the roadway and overturned before catching fire.
The Chevy and the van driver both died as a result of the crash. The victims have not been identified, pending family notification. Troopers are still investigating but do not believe that alcohol played a role in the accident.
We are saddened to hear of this very tragic crash in Hillsborough County and our sympathies are with the victims and their families. Police will continue to investigate the accident in an effort to determine what caused the driver of the van to lose control of the vehicle.
