Holiday, FL (December 30, 2019) - An 80-year-old Holiday woman has died after she was run over by a truck on Saturday, December 28th. The crash took place around 3:35 p.m. on Dynasty Drive.
According to reports, Mary Loui Groyon was walking behind a 2012 Dodge Ram driven by 23-year-old Nicholas J. Reaver. Suddenly and for unknown reasons, the truck reversed and ran over Groyon. Rescue workers transported Groyon to Advent Health North Pinellas where she succumbed to her injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident and charges are pending at this time. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
We are saddened to hear of this tragic crash in Holiday. Fatal accidents take place in Florida about once every three hours. It appears as though driver negligence caused this fatal accident to occur. In many deadly crashes, innocent victims are killed due to the negligence of another motorist. Police will continue to investigate the cause of this accident.
