Yesterday morning, a motorist in Belmont dozed off behind the wheel before an accident occurred on Route 106. The accident involved a Florida cable company truck and a northbound minivan. The minivan drifted into the path of a truck in an oncoming lane. The van then spun around.
The driver of the van was identified as 30-year-old Jordan Smith and his young female passenger were both injured in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Luckily, because of seatbelts and airbags, they both had limited injuries. Smith told officers that he was working an overnight shift on Thursday and believes he dozed off at the wheel.
The driver of the truck is being praised for his quick response time in cutting to the right to avoid a worse accident.
