Investigators who arrived at the scene of the Josephine Bogovich fatality accident said that nothing the driver did was criminal in nature, and could only be deemed ‘careless driving.’ The accident was caused by Celavie Duclos and she didn’t know that she hit someone until her son cried out that there was somebody in the car. Investigators ruled the 48-year-old’s death an ‘excusable homicide’ and she would only face a fine and maybe community service for careless driving.
Witnesses who saw the accident take place saw Duclos quickly reverse her minivan from her parking space, hit two vehicles, and drag Bogovich underneath it. Bogovich’s husband was there at the time and saw his wife being dragged through the parking lot, and believes that she deserves jail time for the incident.
Duclos claims that the car sped up when she backed up and that the ‘brakes wouldn’t work’ even when her boyfriend tried to put the vehicle in park. Many people at the scene said that they heard screeching sounds and what sounded like people arguing in the parking lot.
By the time Fire Rescue crews came to the scene, they found that Bogovich was dead underneath the minivan. There was trauma to her head, torso, and legs. Bogovich’s husband now struggles to live life alone and tries to find justice in the incident.
