Monday morning, 23-year-old Kasey Lugo was driving in her Chevrolet Tahoe and attempting to merge into the left lane due to lane closures caused by construction in the Rock Hill Road area. She attempted to change lanes but was unable to do so, which caused the right side of her vehicle to swipe to the left side of a trailer attached to a semi.
From the impact, the Tahoe hit an orange construction barrel and continued into the left turn lane. It came to a final rest in the left turn lane of U.S. 331. The semi truck fled the scene of the accident and was described only as a blue truck hauling a flatbed trailer. There was no company name on the side, as far as witnesses could see.
