60-year-old Kurt McCord was seriously injured in an accident involving a Conch Train, or a 65-foot-long vehicle that is designed to look like a small train. It has been a key attraction in the area of Key West for quite some time.
McCord was injured after he darted out in front of the Conch Train at a red light. One witness said the accident was so serious that he was pinned under the engine. They claimed that there was a lot of blood present at the scene.
McCord was airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center with serious injuries. Police stated that he is homeless. The pedestrian tried to get across the street in time but he misjudged the distance. The driver, 52-year-old Vanessa Linsley, did not see him but heard him being dragged and hit the brakes.
The train had no passengers and nobody else was injured.
