Leesburg, FL (July 9, 2018) – A 22-year-old man from Leesburg lost his life early yesterday morning in an accident involving his motorcycle. The accident happened when he was riding on his motorcycle and suddenly crashed into a parked car.
At the time, 22-year-old Carlos Edgar was riding his 2007 Suzuki motorcycle around 12:03 a.m. He was on Yale Retreat Road at Old Chisholm Trail when he suddenly lost control of the bike. This caused him to part a bit from the roadway and strike a parked car, identified as a 1995 GMC Sierra pickup truck. The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the scene of the incident.
Edgar was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to a crash report. The investigation continues at this time.
The NTSB has shown through statistics that motorcycle riders are some of the most likely types of motor vehicle riders to die in a crash. Florida sees the most motorcycle accidents than any other state across the nation, with many fatalities happening every year. Our condolences are with you if you have lost a loved one in one of these serious accidents.
