Levy County, FL (March 28, 2019) - A 59-year-old motorcyclist died when he was struck from behind by a vehicle on County Road 320. Police say that the crash occurred around 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26th.
Alexander Popovich was stopped at the intersection of CR 320 and CR 321. That is when police say that 84-year-old Marygene Carothers Marti approached his motorcycle in a Toyota Corolla. Marti failed to slow her vehicle in time to avoid a collision and crashed into the rear end of Popovich's motorcycle. Rescue workers rushed to the scene and transported Popovich to UF Shands Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and charges are pending at this time against Bell.
