A Bradenton woman lost her life in a Manatee County accident that happened today. The accident happened on U.S. 41, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident happened around 12:56 a.m. when 58-year-old Raymond Nazario Jr. was traveling southbound when he suddenly attempted to turn left into a private driveway of another residence. It was on the 5500 block of 14th Street West. He was driving a semi-car hauler at the time.
When he tried to pull into the driveway, he failed to make sure he had a clear route. He was not watching out for hazards.
At the same time, 28-year-old Kristen Germain was driving her Chevy Malibu when she collided with the rear of the semi’s trailer. Germain’s car then ricocheted to the west and went straight into the left turning lane.
Germain was immediately taken to the Blake Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
Nazario was not injured in the accident. The investigation continues.
In 2016 as a whole across the U.S., there were over 30,000 fatal accidents. The numbers in Florida are quite high every year.
