Toyota has been keeping an eye on their popular vehicle brand, Prius, as the vehicles have been known to have power loss in some instances. These electrical defects have caused Priuses to stall when individuals are in the midst of driving, which can lead to dangerous scenarios and has caused injuries in several. Toyota’s documents currently show that there have been more than 800 defective electrical components.
In one case in Florida, a woman was seriously injured when she suddenly lost power on a four-lane highway and became rear-ended by another vehicle that was traveling at quick speeds.
In another incident, Margaret Long, who lives in Port Charlotte, Florida, was driving to the hospital to pick up her husband. When doing so, her Prius suddenly lost power on a four-lane highway. The 8-year-old was rammed from behind, which caused her vehicle to drive into the center median. She received a cracked vertebra, two cracked ribs, and a punctured lung. She also received a traumatic brain injury that caused her memory to be affected.
