Marion County, FL (July 27, 2021) - The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a fatal accident in Marion County on Tuesday, July 27th. The accident happened on Northwest 70th Avenue.
According to a report from the scene, a dump truck was traveling northbound on Northwest 70th Avenue while a pickup truck was traveling southbound. For unknown reasons, the pickup truck crossed into the northbound lane causing a head-on crash between the two vehicles. The pickup truck driver died at the scene while the other driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. The accident resulted in the roadway being closed for several hours while police investigated at the scene.
No further details have been released.
