Melbourne, FL (August 21, 2018) - A Melbourne man died Monday in a fiery crash on Interstate 95. According to Florida Highway Patrol, the vehicle was traveling northbound on 95 when it left its lane of travel and struck a guardrail. The car erupted into flames after impact. Police and emergency officials rushed to the scene after receiving a call regarding the crash. By the time they arrived, however, there was nothing they could do to save the driver.
33 year old Eddie Feliciano was pronounced dead. Reports indicate that his body was severely burned in the accident. Feliciano was driving a four door Dodge at the time of the incident.
Authorities have not said what caused the Dodge to leave the road and strike the guardrail. The accident cause remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Hundreds of thousands of vehicle accidents occur each year in our state. Unfortunately, some of these accidents will be serious and the worst accidents will be fatal. Our thoughts are with the friends and family of Eddie Feliciano during this difficult time.
Single vehicle accidents require a close examination of the surrounding circumstances to determine their cause. Issues such as mechanical failure must be considered along with driver error to give officers a clear picture of how the crash occurred.
