Last year, there were over 10,000 reported pedestrian crashes. A pedestrian is especially vulnerable while on busy roadways or at nighttime or early morning hours, as in this accident. A pedestrian who uses the road before daylight should take certain safety precautions, including traveling in only well-lighted areas, carrying a flashlight or other illuminating device and remaining far enough off the roadway to avoid being struck by a vehicle.
