Miami, FL (March 23, 2019) - A crash involving three vehicles on Krome Avenue has left one person dead and several injured. The incident took place on Friday, March 22nd, in Miami-Dade County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a van, a pickup, and a tractor-trailer were all traveling northbound on Krome. Suddenly, the van slowed for traffic that was stopped ahead. The driver of the pickup failed to slow down and slammed into the back of the van. The impact pushed the van into the southbound lanes, causing it to collide with the tractor trailer. The pickup then left the road and crashed into a light pole.
A passenger in the van died in the crash, while three other occupants were taken to area hospitals in unknown condition. Two people were treated at the scene. The road was closed for several hours before reopening Friday afternoon.
About 400,000 car accidents are reported annually in Florida. This crash, unfortunately, appears to be of the serious variety. Our thoughts are with the family who lost their loved one in this accident. The driver of the pickup will likely be held legally responsible for causing the chain reaction of events that led to the deaths and injuries that occurred.
