Nobody ever expects to sustain a pedestrian accident. Pedestrians tend to believe that people in heavier, bigger vehicles will always watch out for them and their safety. However, pedestrian accidents continue to happen on growing levels every year, injuring some and taking the lives of others on our roadways. When safety is no longer a priority, any accident can happen.
Yesterday, a man was hit and killed in an accident on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard. He has now been identified as 77-year-old William Costello, who lost his life around 5:30 a.m. in the morning when a vehicle struck him.
Deputies arrived on scene and discovered that Costello had been walking east from the northbound median lane within the intersection. He was looking to retrieve information from his vehicle due to a crash that he had just been in. That’s when 20-year-old Adrianne Ojeda struck him with a 2017 Kia Sorrento that was passing through. Costello died at the scene of the accident.
