An Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University student, identified as 22-year-old Nandish Patel, was killed in a plane accident that took place Tuesday night. This is the second crash involving an ERAU student in two months’ time.
The accident took place when a Cessna 140 Aircraft crashed into a group of trees around 7:30 p.m. Patel was killed immediately while his flight instructor, 23-year-old Chase Zinn, was hospitalized with serious injuries. He was taken to the hospital on trauma alert.
One witness watched the plane go down in the wooded area about a mile away from the landing strip. At this time, it is unclear what caused the plane to go down.
