North Port, FL (March 25, 2019) - Two people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on US-41 on Sunday, March 24th. The crash happened just after the end of an Atlanta Braves spring training game.
The North Port Police Department responded to the crash scene. Police say that a 20-year-old female driver caused the crash. It is currently believed that the driver was under the influence when she struck a 2012 Honda Civic that was stopped in front of her. The crash then resulted in a chain reaction with at least two other vehicles, including a motorcycle belonging to the Sheriff's Office.
The driver of the Honda died at the crash scene and at least one other person was also killed. Police have not identified the crash victims. Charges against the driver of the Kia are forthcoming at this time.
Our deepest condolences are extended to the family of those killed in this tragic crash and we hope for a full recovery for those who were hurt.
