Ocoee, FL (June 24, 2018) – A driver was sustaining a medical episode this week in Ocoee, which caused him to lose control of his vehicle and crash into a lake. The accident took place last afternoon, according to the Ocoee Police Department, who investigated.
The crash happened around 12:40 p.m. on the 1000 block of West Colonial Drive near Blackwood Avenue. The man was driving in the area and suffered from a medical issue in his silver sedan. When he left the roadway, his vehicle flipped and landed in the water upside-down.
Bystanders quickly got into the water and got the man out of the vehicle. He was pulled to shore, which is where several off-duty nurses from the area performed CPR on him until first responders arrived at the scene. The driver was then taken to the hospital but, as of today, we do not know his condition.
Officials released a statement thanking those who responded to the scene before others were able to issue help to the man in his time of need.
