Orange County, FL (August 20, 2019) - A crash between a school bus and pickup left three students injured on Monday, August 19th, in Orange County. The accident occurred on Dean Road.
According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, a school bus and the truck were traveling southbound on Dean Road. The bus stopped to make a turn onto Winder Road. The truck, traveling behind the bus, failed to slow for the turn and collided with the back of the bus. There were 35 students aboard the bus at the time of the collision. Three of the students sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. No other injuries were reported.
Troopers issued a citation to the truck driver for careless driving.
Child safety is the top priority for drivers in charge of transporting students to and from school each day. School bus drivers have a very important job and must always drive cautiously and safely, remaining aware of any potential hazards that could lead to an accident.
In this case, it looks as though the responsibility for the crash lies with the driver of the pickup truck. A driver who fails to slow down and causes a crash with the vehicle in front of them is negligent in the eyes of the law. When a driver's negligence causes injuries, those hurt in the crash can file a personal injury case seeking to recover damages, including pain and suffering and medical bills incurred due to the accident.
