Fatal crashes claim the lives of about eight people per day in our state. Drivers must always be cautious when they are on the roads, even when stepping out of their vehicles. The shoulder of a busy roadway can be an especially dangerous place for motorists, especially at night or in poorly-lit areas. Each year, many serious and fatal crashes occur when a driver or passenger is struck while standing outside their vehicle.
Our thoughts go out to the family of the deceased truck driver.
