Orange County, FL (April 22, 2019) - A passenger was killed when a car in which he was riding struck a tree on Sunday, April 21st.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to Landstar Boulevard at Island Cove Drive around 11:00 p.m. in reference to the crash. Troopers determined that 19-year-old Dalton McCall was driving a 2010 Hyundai when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a tree. McCall was not wearing his seat belt. He was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. McCall's passenger was killed in the crash. The passenger was not immediately identified by police.
There is no word on what caused the crash or if alcohol played a role. Charges are pending against McCall at this time.
We are saddened to hear of this tragic crash that claimed a life in Orange County. Fatal car accidents occur approximately eight times per day in Florida. Sadly, many victims of fatal crashes are innocent and had nothing to do with the cause of the crash itself. This applies both to other motorists as well as passengers who are victimized by a driver's negligence. In this case, it appears as though Dalton McCall will be held legally responsible for the collision.
