Troopers are still searching for a man in a Kia who fled the scene of an accident that caused critical injuries to a 27-year-old man this morning.
This morning, police were called to the scene of an Orange County hit-and-run crash that took place in the early hours around 4:25 a.m. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 27-year-old man was outside of his vehicle and standing in the road on Colonial Drive at Chuluota Road when a driver came up in the westbound lanes, striking him.
The left side of the black Kia struck the man. The driver did not even attempt to stop and kept driving. As a result, the pedestrian sustained serious injuries and had to be taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition. His name has not yet been released by officials.
Troopers are now watching out for the driver of the black Kia, which is believed to be missing a fog light and might have damages on the driver’s side.
In Florida, statistics show us that about 25% of all crashes involve a hit-and-run driver who flees the scene. This can put pedestrians and other parties in a difficult position.
