Osceola County, FL (November 23, 2018) - A 28-year-old Orlando native is dead following a crash on Florida's Turnpike. The crash happened on Thursday morning, November 22nd.
Randy Washington was traveling on the exit ramp, near mile marker 249, around 5:00 am when he attempted to make a lane change. As he switched lanes, he was struck from behind by another vehicle. A passenger in Washington's vehicle, Macson Cadet, was seriously hurt and taken to an Orlando hospital where he later died. The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries. There is no word on whether Washington was hurt.
Police have not said whether they intend to charge Washington or the other driver for causing the fatal crash and an investigation into the accident is still active at this time.
On average, Florida sees a fatal crash about once every three hours. Driving is a dangerous activity and even routine driving maneuvers such as merging on and off a highway and changing lanes can turn deadly on a moment's notice if drivers are not careful. While it remains to be seen who is ultimately responsible for this crash, an innocent passenger lost their life. Our condolences are with the family of Macson Cadet.
