Palm Beach, FL (July 31, 2018) – Off-duty Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael D’Avanzo ran a stop sign and crashed into an SUV, causing serious brain injury to one person. The occupants of the SUV have been identified as 18-year-old Farrah Fox and 20-year-old Dylan De Giuseppe.
Giuseppe has been released from the hospital, but Fox remains unconscious and in critical condition following her brain injury. Fox also sustained a fractured ankle and pelvis. Her parents said that they do not hold resentment toward the deputy, but this does not mean that they will be ruling out legal action.
There were allegedly two other passengers in the pickup truck, both of which were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. At this time, the investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed against the deputy.
Fox’s parents have also stated that doctors suspect it will be at least a few weeks before her head trauma heals enough for her to be able to open her eyes again. They are hoping there will be a full recovery.
