Palm Harbor, FL (June 16, 2019) - A pedestrian was killed while walking through a Wal-Mart parking lot on Saturday, June 15th at 35404 US-19.
According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, 76-year-old Carol Bradley was walking in a crosswalk near the store. At the same time, 36-year-old Brian Bristow was making a left turn in the parking lot. Bristow struck Bradley as he was turning, knocking her to the ground. Bradley sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Bristow remained at the scene and told troopers that he did not see Bradley before striking her.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending against Bristow at this time.
Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones of Carol Bradley. Pedestrian accidents can take place anywhere at any time. Although many serious and fatal pedestrian crashes occur on crowded streets and highways, they can also occur in parking lots and other areas. While we generally believe that pedestrians are safer in a parking lot, a simple act of negligence or inattention on the part of a driver can cause irreversible consequences for a pedestrian, as we see here.
