Hit-and-run accidents in Florida account for approximately 25% of all reported motor vehicle accidents. Drivers who flee the scene of a crash are usually attempting to avoid legal responsibility for their negligent and illegal driving behaviors. These drivers will face stiff penalties once they are apprehended, including the likelihood of a civil suit for personal injury on behalf of the victim or their family members.
