Pasco County, FL (December 18, 2018) - A 55-year-old Spring Hill woman suffered serious injuries in a crash that took place on Trinity Boulevard on Monday, December 17th. The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the scene of the crash along with fire and rescue workers.
Authorities say that Daniel Morales, 42, was driving a 2015 Dodge pickup eastbound on Trinity when he veered over the center line and towards oncoming, westbound traffic. His truck collided with a 2013 Nissan pickup that was being operated by Lisa Conti. Conti's car rolled over and came to a stop while lying sideways in the eastbound lane. Morale's truck continued on, then striking a 2016 Mazda driven by 41-year-old Daniel Osborn.
Both Morales and Osborn suffered minor injuries. Conti was seriously hurt and taken to Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point. There is no word on whether her injuries are considered life-threatening. Morales was arrested for DUI with injury and property damage. There is no additional information available.
This year alone, about 400,000 vehicle accidents will be reported in our state. A head-on collision is one of the most dangerous and destructive types of car accidents that we see. Many heads on collisions occur due to the presence of distracted and impaired drivers on our roadways. In this case, it appears that alcohol played a role. Impaired driving is one of the most egregious forms of negligence and can lead to the other driver being responsible for your medical bills, pain and suffering and lost wages caused by injuries sustained in the accident. Additionally, an impaired driver may have to pay punitive damages to punish them for their wrongful conduct.
