Pembroke Pines, FL (June 23, 2018) – Two people were injured in a Pembroke Pines crash that took place yesterday morning in the early hours. The crash involved a tractor-trailer and a passenger sedan. The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
Deputies claim that, around 1:05 a.m. on Friday, a 26-year-old man from Pembroke Pines was driving northbound in a 2016 Freightliner truck pulling a trailer. At the same time, a Chrysler sedan was being driven southbound by a 24-year-old with a 65-year-old as a passenger.
The driver of the semi saw the southbound vehicle and claimed that the driver looked to be swerving in and out of her lane. The semi-truck had to use evasive action to avoid the sedan, swerving toward the right shoulder. The Chrysler ran into the driver’s side trailer tires, which caused it to become disabled.
The semi-truck driver did not sustain injuries in the accident. However, the driver and passenger inside the sedan did sustain injuries and they were taken to Marlette Hospital for treatment.
Nobody was wearing a seatbelt inside the sedan. The Marlette woman who was driving at the time was believed to be intoxicated at the time of the crash. Charges are pending.
