A Brevard County deputy shot at a man who drove toward him in an incident that led to a chase. It all started with a domestic violence call when a woman called the police and said that her ex-boyfriend chased her to her friend’s home and thought that he was outside. She then claimed that the man was banging on the windows and stood there.
When the police arrived, they found Perry Valsaint at the home. They urged him to get out of his vehicle but instead he drove at a deputy. The deputy then opened fire and struck the suspect one time. Valsaint drove from the incident and it led to a police chase on Interstate 95.
Valsaint was caught when his vehicle flew off the highway. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. He had to have half of his pancreas removed due to the incident.
Nobody else received injuries.
