Phillip Dehart in Critical Condition After Falling on the Job

By: FL Accident News Blog as Blog Post

A contractor fell more than 20 feet on the job for Cox Communications and was left in critical condition. The incident happened during the move of the Gulfview Hotel in Fort Walton Beach this week. Police and fire departments were called about a worker who fell out of the bucket of a lift truck that was parked on the eastbound side of Miracle Strip Parkway.

The man who was injured was 58-year-old Phillip Dehart. When the accident occurred, he was relocating cable lines. Dehart fell out of his bucket when an employee ran over a cable that was draped to a pole and caused him to lose his balance. He was wearing a safety harness but it was not secured to the bucket at the time. He is now in critical but stable condition.
