Early this morning, a driver crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer on Suncoast Parkway in Port Richey. The driver, Daniel Baxter, aged 34, drove himself as a male passenger that morning on State Road 589. A 56-year-old named John Preston was driving his tractor-trailer ahead of Baxter and started to slow it down when Baxter hit him. He did not slow down even though the tractor-trailer left time to do so. Baxter’s passenger, a 27-year-old male who was not named, died at the scene of the accident. Baxter was left with serious injuries and taken to the hospital.
As of right now, charges are pending in the accident.
Just as in this rear-end accident, many rear-enders end in tragedy when a driver is not staying the legally required length away from the driver in front of them. In these accidents, it may be difficult to judge who is liable, as usually fault is automatically given to the vehicle from the back.
If you have been injured or a life has been lost in a rear-end accident, we want to help. At Rubenstein Law, we want to help you with your accident claim from start to finish. Call us today at 1-800-FL-LEGAL for more information.
