22-year-old Rhett Andrew Dickerson was involved in a hit-and-run accident and, as an investigation was taking place, punched a deputy in the face. The accident took place on Monday night. He was arrested and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer.
The incident happened when the deputy responded to the accident, which had happened at Normandy and Saxon Boulevard around 7 p.m. Dickerson was accused of leaving the scene of an accident after he hit a vehicle with his truck. Dickerson was failing to follow commands by the officers and hit the deputy as he was trying to flee.
The deputy’s left eye was injured. Helicopters and K9 officers searched the area for Dickerson. He was hiding inside a house and came forward after some time. The deputy is now being treated at Saxon Medical Center.
