When workers are responding to an accident scene, anything can happen. Many people who work alongside the roadways are at risk of serious accidents by those who are not paying attention to the area or driving distracted. This was the case for an accident that occurred this past week, injuring two firefighters.
An accident happened on I-95 northbound that caused serious injuries involving a hit-and-run driver. The serious hit-and-run accident happened when firefighters were attempting to rescue a driver from a previous accident when an SUV came up and sideswiped the firetruck, hitting two firefighters and slamming into the rear-end of another vehicle.
Other firefighters were on the scene at the time and rushed to give aid to their coworkers. There were five people inside the Toyota with serious injuries, with a total of eight people taken to the hospital. One man inside the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. The firefighters are believed to be in stable condition at this time.
