An accident that took place on the Florida Turnpike left a seven-year-old dead. The accident took place today after a child was left dead in Lake County. The boy was identified as Adrian Perez. He was initially taken to the hospital for severe injuries and was pronounced dead while there.
Perez was a passenger in a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan that was rear-ended around 1:15 a.m. today. The driver of the vehicle, who was in a semi-truck at the time, was 51-year-old William Irvin Anderson Jr.
The Grand Caravan was driven by 31-year-old Natalia Ramirez Martin. She struck a guardrail and overturned after she was rear-ended by the semi-truck. Martin was seriously injured and was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
There were three other children inside the vehicle at the time, identified as a 4, 6, and 9-year-old. They suffered serious injuries and they were taken to the hospital.
The crash is still being investigated. Charges are pending against Anderson at this time, who was not injured.
As far as children are concerned, the highest death rates were among children who were occupants of motor vehicle accidents.
