In 2016, there were a total of 309 fatal work injuries reported in Florida. Among industries, the construction and waste service industries had the highest rate of work-related fatalities.
When a work-related fatality takes place, a thorough investigation will follow. The investigation will focus on the cause of the death and whether the death could have been prevented. Industrial workplaces are regulated by various safety laws and codes which prohibit the use of practices which could cause death or serious bodily injury to those on site. If these practices are violated, the deceased person's next of kin could potentially file a wrongful death claim.
