Tampa, FL (October 12, 2018) - A crash on I-75 left one man injured on Thursday, October 11th. The crash took place near Fowler Avenue.
Mark Peterson, 68, of Tampa was traveling eastbound on Fowler in a 1999 Lincoln Town Car. As Peterson accelerated to merge onto I-75, he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a 2012 Nissan SUV 36 driven by 36 year old Eric Hill. Hill's SUV then crashed into a guardrail before striking a Buick Encore driven by Danielle Blackwell. Blackwell's car then hit a 2011 Kia Soul, operated by Maria Rodriguez.
Hill suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Florida Hospital. The other three drivers also sustained injuries but chose not to go to the hospital. Peterson received a citation for careless driving.
A car accident is reported in Florida every 92 seconds. Most car accidents are preventable and occur due to the negligence of at least one driver. In this accident, it appears as though Mark Peterson's negligence caused the series of events that led to a four car pileup on I-75. Fortunately, the injuries sustained were not more serious as this certainly could have been a catastrophic crash. We are glad to see that all are expected to recover.
