Hit-and-run accidents have become an epidemic in Florida, with more than 100,000 of these crashes reported annually. Current statistics indicate that about 25 percent of all reported car accidents are hit-and-run collisions. Drivers will flee the scene of a crash for a variety of reasons but generally will do so in an effort to avoid taking responsibility for causing a serious crash with catastrophic consequences. Fortunately, there are strong laws in place which seek to punish these drivers when they are caught.
