Police are actively searching for the driver who took the life of a woman in a Tampa hit-and-run.
The Tampa Police Department is asking for help from the public as they continue the search for the driver in the accident that took place last night.
The incident took place around 9:15 p.m. when police were called to the intersection of N. Nebraska Avenue and E. Linebaugh Avenue. A woman was discovered in the middle of the roadway at the time.
Police are still working on identifying the woman, who was later pronounced dead after she was taken to the hospital. Police are now searching for a white vehicle that they believe to be some type of SUV. It was seen in the area at the time of the crash. They are also looking for any witnesses.
Florida is known to have one of the states with the highest amount of hit-and-run crashes every year. In 2016, they saw 2,049 deaths from these horrific accidents that claim lives.

Two people were killed in a Wednesday crash that took place on U.S. 19 in Hudson. The collision happened around 5:15 p.m. near Beach Boulevard. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an 81-year-old woman was driving southbound on U.S. 19 when she lost control of her SUV. The vehicle traveled into the median and struck a construction barrel before heading into the southbound lanes and crashing into a sedan. The SUV driver suffered serious injuries. A 52-year-old male passenger died at the crash scene. The 54-year-old driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Read more
