The Villages, FL (June 27, 2019) - An 84-year-old Villages resident was taken to the hospital after his golf cart was struck by an SUV on Tuesday, June 25th. The crash occurred near the intersection of Parr Drive and Tall Trees Lane around 5:40 p.m.
According to reports, Gerald Eidenberger was driving a 2009 Yamaha Golf Cart near the intersection. At the same time, 71-year-old Barbara Howard Lewis was operating a 2016 Toyota RAV4. As Lewis came to the stop sign at the intersection, she failed to stop and collided with Eidenberger's golf cart. Lewis told police that she did not see the stop sign and failed to stop as a result. An ambulance took Eidenbeger to Ocala Regional Medical Center for treatment. There is no update on his condition at this time.
Police wrote Lewis a ticket for running a stop sign. She was not injured in the crash.
