Perry suffered critical injuries and died at the crash scene. Long's pickup continued off the roadway and rolled over. He was rushed to UF Health with serious injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. There is no word on whether any charges are expected at this time.
Fatal crashes are reported in our state every three hours. Many serious and fatal crashes occur due to wrong-way drivers. A wrong-way driver is normally impaired, distracted, or suffering from a medical condition. When a driver is traveling the wrong-way the collision is usually head-on, which tends to be more catastrophic and damaging than an average crash. Our thoughts go out to the family of Roland Lewis Perry in this tragic Trenton crash.
