Venice, FL (September 6, 2021) - A 15-year-old passenger was killed in a car accident that took place in Venice on Sunday. The crash happened on Jackson Road at the intersection with Batello Drive.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 17-year-old was traveling northbound on Jackson Road. As he shifted gears, the driver lost control of the vehicle rounding a curve. The car veered off the road and hit a tree before overturning and coming to rest. The 15-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle and died at the crash scene. The driver suffered only minor injuries.
The FHP is still investigating the crash at this time. There is no word on whether any charges are expected. No additional information is available.

Police in Fort Myers are investigating after a deadly hit-and-run accident on State Road 82 near Gateway Boulevard. The incident took place Tuesday afternoon around 5:00 p.m. According to the Fort Myers Police Department, a white F-150 truck collided with another vehicle on SR 82. The driver of the other vehicle died as a result of the crash and the truck fled the scene. The identity of the deceased victim has not been released and there is no word on what caused the crash.
